How it works
Why people trust Etrua with fingerprinting prices
Most directories quote "starting at $20" and then add mandatory DOJ and FBI fees at the counter. We do the opposite: the government portion and the shop portion are shown side by side, upfront.
Step 1
Search your city or ZIP
Filter by provider type and service format — Live Scan, ink card, FBI channeler, or a mobile technician who comes to you.
Step 2
See the full fee breakdown
Each listing splits the agency rolling fee from the state DOJ fee and FBI federal fee, so nothing is hidden until the register.
Step 3
Compare against the fair benchmark
We flag walk-in availability and mobile dispatch, and show where a rolling fee sits against the $15–$25 fair range.
Step 4
Call or navigate directly
Contact the location straight from the card, or open turn-by-turn directions to the exact address.
FAQ
Common questions
Why do fingerprinting prices differ between shops?
The state and FBI portions are fixed by law. The variable part is the agency rolling fee the shop charges for taking your prints — typically $15 to $25, though some locations charge far more.
What is the difference between Live Scan and FD-258?
Live Scan captures your prints electronically and submits them directly to the state or FBI. FD-258 is the physical ink card used when an agency requires a mailed card or when the receiving body is not connected electronically.
Does Etrua store fingerprints or biometric data?
No. Etrua is a price and location index. We never collect, store, or transmit biometric data.
